The Good Samaritan: Ideas for Infant Teachers

Possible follow up activities for the pupils to do:
  • Draw the story using a series of pictures.
  • Put in some dialogue and make it into a cartoon.
  • Draw a portrait or picture of a friend and write about what makes them a good friend.
  • Draw and label other people that help you, at home, school or in the wider world.
  • Work as a class or group writing a play script for the story and then act it out.
  • Discuss how we can become a better friend to others.
  • Jesus showed us how to be a good friend in the Bible. Can we find some examples of this?
  • Write a prayer asking God to help us in our friendships with others or thanking God for those who help us.
With years 1 and 2 you might additionally:
  • Read the story from a simple but accurate text. You might like to use this link: The Bible, Luke chapter 10 verses 25 - 37
  • Have circle time, during which the children could relate the story to their own experiences of people who have helped them, or who they feel have let them down.
