Something beautiful for God: The life of Mother Teresa

If you were compiling a list of the worlds most powerful women who would you include?

Would you think of ...

  • Boudica, a first century warrior queen?
  • Jeanne d`Arc, (1412-1431) a Frenchwoman who gathered an army and led them to victory?
  • Elizabeth 1 Queen of England?
  • Margaret Thatcher the first woman to be British Prime Minister?

You may not think to include Mother Teresa, a nun, living in one of the worlds poorest areas. She was not rich or glamorous, yet royalty and world leaders enjoyed visiting her and were proud to receive visits from her. Some people believed she 'became the most powerful woman in the world.' This was because when she asked to see or speak to presidents or prime ministers around the world, she was often put straight through. They listened to what she had to say and had great respect for her work among the poor.

How did one insignificant old lady come to have such a great influence?
Read on and hear something of her life story.
