What foods are eaten at Easter?

Traditionally lamb was always eaten on Easter day. This followed the Jewish festival of Passover when lamb is eaten at the Passover meal. Many people do not follow this tradition today.

Simnel cake is a special type of Easter cake. This is a rich fruit cake baked with a layer of almond paste in the middle of it. It is then decorated with another layer of almond paste topped with eleven balls of almond paste. These balls represent Jesus' disciples excluding Judas who let down Jesus.
