Make a Christingle

This custom started in Moravia (part of Slovakia) 250 years ago. Christingles, or 'Christlights' are given to children in exchange for gifts of presents or money, which are then given to poor children.

You will need: an orange, red ribbon, a pin, silver foil, four cocktail sticks, sweets or raisins.

Each part of the Christingle has a special meaning.

The orange stands for the world.
The red ribbon represents Jesus' blood,
when he died on the cross.
