In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies." In Christian marriage each gives the other appropriate love and care in a self-sacrificing way by putting their partner's needs first. "Give honour to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery." Christians believe that God intends the gift of sex to take place only within the marriage partnership. "God gives some the gift of marriage, and to others he gives the gift of singleness" Christians believe that celibacy is a gift of God to some, even as marriage is to others. |
