'My name's Jon Waterfield, I'm 16 years old and I've been a Christian for four years now. I decided to make a decision to become a Christian, to live for God, out of my own choice, when I was twelve, or roughly that age. It was just basically me deciding that I wanted to do it myself. Not because I had to, not because I thought I needed to, or because my mum told me to, but because I wanted to do it for myself. To believe in God is to make it real for me, to make it not just one of those strories you hear out of the Bible like Noah, and all the stories about creation and all of that ... it's something that actually happens in my life, that happens to me. And that's what it is to believe for me, that anytime of the day, anywhere, I can pray to God and he's always got me covered, if you know what I mean. Yeah, you can just take it to him and he'll sort it out in the best way, obviously. To believe ... there's always that security, you never feel alone, it's always like just having like a friend there permanently.

To belong to church and to God, it's quite a friendship thing really. I mean I've got a lot of friends at church and they're always there. It's just something that happens, something that God's given me as well. Obviously, there's a big difference with them and my friends at school. I've got some really good mates at school as well, but there is a difference. You're wanted, and you feel like you're important to people. And that's a big thing at church. I've never been to church and not felt like that, so it's always been a place a bit like a second home, it sounds a bit sad but it's like a second home! More like you feel with your best mates. That's what it is to belong.
