A Day in the Life ... of a Vicar

meeting
Most evenings I have meetings or appointments, speaking with people who want to get married in church, church council meetings, preparing couples who want to have their children baptised and many other different things.
At the moment I am leading a group of people from our church who want to know more about what it means to be a Christian. We meet together once a week and try to learn more about the Bible, about God, about Jesus and about how we can share these things with other people. It's a bit like an advanced Alpha course.

Some of the people doing the course may go on to become Lay Readers.

In our church we have a young peoples group called Rock Solid. They meet on a Friday night at the church. They have a chill-out night or games and activities and there is usually a spot during the evening when we think about faith in Jesus. Last year some of them wanted to become Christians and so I led confirmation classes with them and they were confirmed by a Bishop.

I usually have one day off a week and my wife Amelia and I visit friends or go out into the country. Sometimes we drive down to the seaside. If we stay at home I work in the garden or fiddle about with my motorbike or make something out of wood in the garage. Jesus was a carpenter too so he probably enjoyed doing practical things as well.
