A Day in the Life ... of a Vicar |

Sometimes after breakfast I visit the local primary school and lead the school assembly. At other times different classes come into the church for assemblies and other services. Last week they had the Starlab in school for the day, it was just like being outside on a starry night. We looked at all the different constellations and marvelled at how God had created such an amazing universe. |
| Sometimes the phone will ring and there is someone speaking to me in tears because their mum or dad or child has died or been taken seriously ill suddenly and unexpectedly. They want to talk or a shoulder to cry on. Often they just don't know what to do and simply want someone to help them. In the event of a death I will help them make the arrangements for the funeral and will visit them a number of times both before and after. | |

We have a midmorning midweek communion service which I often lead. Usually the people who come to it are retired so they have the time. We say prayers together for the world and for the sick and celebrate Jesus' life by breaking bread and sharing wine. The church where I work is a modern building. It's very versatile and many different groups and organisations use it. People come and go all day long. It's a busy church. |

Sometimes I have lunch with other people. Here I am enjoying lunch with some members of one of our church prayer groups. |
