A Day in the Life ... of a Bishop

Many evenings and most Sundays are spent at special services in some of the 570 churches in this diocese either for Confirmations or a service to welcome a new Priest to a parish. Because I work in a large, rural diocese, quite a lot of time is spent in the car, getting to and from different churches, schools or meetings; one evening service might entail a round trip of 120 miles.

Although I do some "front line" work, preaching the Gospel and talking to non-church members, often at special events, most of my day to day work is involved with helping and supporting other Christians, especially the clergy, in the "front line" work they are doing every day.
