A Day in the Life ... of a Bishop |
One of the fascinating things about being a Bishop is that no two days are ever the same. However, they all begin the same way, with prayer and Bible study. Without that to under-gird the day and keep me in touch with God, nothing would be accomplished. As the Suffragan Bishop of Taunton, I work in the Diocese of Bath and Wells, an area of 1600 square miles which includes the whole of Somerset. Most of my work is concerned directly with the mission of the Church in that area. Some days I never stray from my office, writing sermons and articles, dealing with correspondence, preparing for meetings, and talking with clergy and others who come to see me. |

On other days, I may be out from before breakfast, attending meetings or visiting schools. Most days are a mixture of preparation, interviews and meetings, at home and elsewhere. |
