What is Communion?

Jesus shares Passover

On the night before Jesus died he shared the Jewish Passover meal with his disciples. Loaves of unleavened bread (made without yeast), glasses of wine and Passover lambs sacrificed in the temple were used. Jesus took these familiar things and gave them a new meaning.

Jesus broke a loaf of bread and said 'This my body given for you. Do this to remember me.'

He took a cup of wine and said, 'This is my blood, poured out to forgive the sins of many.'

You can read about this in The Bible, 1 Corinthians chapter 11 verses 23 - 26
