Anglican Communion Service

Bible reading

Anglicans believe that God's word, the Bible, is something we should learn from so we have two or three readings from the Bible, and a talk which helps to explain them. After this we all join in saying a "creed", which reminds us of things which all Christians believe:

"We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen…"

After this we pray together for:

  • The Church of Christ
  • Creation, human society, the sovereign (the Queen) and those in authority
  • The local community
  • Those who suffer
  • The communion of saints
prayer

In many churches we will now turn to the people around us and shake hands and say

"The peace of the Lord be always with you."

This is a time to remember that all the Christians meeting together are children of God, and brothers and sisters of Jesus.
