An Anglican Infant Baptism Service |

A candle is often lit during the service, and the light from the candle shows that baptism is a symbol of a person moving from darkness into light. The light reminds us of the part in the Bible which says God 'has rescued us from the one who rules the kingdom of darkness, and He has brought us into the Kingdom of His dear Son.' The light from the candle also reminds us that followers of Jesus are called to shine like a light in the world, and to be an example to others who do not know Jesus. |

| In the baptism service, all the members of the Church say: During the service there will also be some singing of hymns chosen by the family, and the child is presented with a certificate of baptism. Afterwards there is often a party for the friends and family. Sometimes people may give the child being baptised a card or a present. |
