These 'Stations of the Cross' show Jesus' pain when he died on the cross.

Christians believe that when he did this he took God's punishment for the wrong things each of us have done (The Bible, Hebrews chapter 10 verse 14). The artist is saying to us, 'Look how he suffered, look what he did for you.' He wants us to feel sorry for the wrong things we have done, and to change and live as Jesus wants us to.
