The Quire is used for the daily service of Evensong - a selection of prayers and psalms sung by the choir. The service is very popular, and many people come to it each day. |

At the front of the Quire is the most important altar - the High Altar - in the Minster. The icon shows St. Peter, the patron saint of York Minster. |
The lectern is shaped like an eagle. It is used to hold the Bible for the Bible readings. |
