The Cathedra

The Cathedra is the special seat where the Archbishop of York sits when he is here. It is found at the front of the nave.

The Latin inscription above the cathedra quote the words of Jesus: "I have chosen you; you have not chosen me."

York Minster has two cathedra - the official one is in the Quire.
