St. Gregory
One panel shows the story of St. Gregory, who saw fair-haired slave children for sale in Rome. Asking where they were from, he was told they were Anglo Saxons. He answered, 'Not Angles but angels, if they were but Christians!'

He later sent St. Augustine of Canterbury to England to share the Christian faith. St. Augustine founded Canterbury Cathedral. In the U.K. his feast day is 26th May.

Cardinal Hume is buried here.
