Mary Queen of Scots (1542 - 1587)

Mary Queen of Scots had a strong claim to the English throne and plotted to overthrow Queen Elizabeth I. She was captured by the English in 1568 and executed in 1587.

James, her son, became King of both Scotland and (after Elizabeth 's death) England as well. He is buried near by.
