The Coronation Chair

Kings and Queens have been crowned at Westminster Abbey since 1066. The coronation chair has been used for this ceremony since 1308. It is made to hold the Stone of Scone, which is now held at Edinburgh Castle .

The Coronation Chair

At the ceremony of the coronation the chair is put in front of the high altar and the Archbishop of Canterbury puts the crown on the new monarch's head.
