The Bishops Palace and St. Andrew's Well

The Bishop's Palace is the home of the Bishop of Bath and Wells. It is surrounded by high walls and a moat.

St. Andrew's Well is in the grounds of the Bishop's Palace. The well is the reason why the Cathedral was built here.

St. Andrew's Well
Water was piped underground from here to the market place, to give drinking water to the people of Wells. The gutters also run with water, to wash away the rubbish.
