The South Transept |
In the South Transept there are lots of stone carvings. They are about all sorts of everyday things. These carvings of a grape stealer are like a comic strip in stone. |

An old man looks over his shoulder as he steals a bunch of grapes. A boy holds a basket full of grapes. |
A worker sees the thieves, and tells the farmer. |

The boy has got away, but the angry farmer grabs the man. He is going to prod him with a hay fork. |
The farmer hits the thief so hard with his hay fork that his hat falls off! |
This man has a bad toothache. There are eleven carvings of men with toothache in Wells Cathedral - it must have been a big problem here! |
