The Nave Sanctuary |
The pulpit was a symbol of changes in the life of the Cathedral when it became part of the Church of England. From then on, ordinary people were welcomed into its services - especially to hear the stories of the Bible. At this time (1547) the pulpit was made. Before this time, only Bibles in Latin were allowed to be used. Now for the first time ordinary people could understand the Bible. Around the pulpit are words from the Bible - in English! |

The Altar is a focus of the communion service and is the table on which the bread and wine are displayed. The choir stalls and the lectern are quite new. |
