The Nave

Here is the nave as it is today, during a church service.

When Wells Cathedral was first built services never took place in the Nave. It was only used for processions on the way to the Quire. In this picture you can see it as it looked then - with no chairs.

Today the Nave is used for big services, like the main service on Sunday mornings. Many organisations use it for special services, and there are also talks, concerts, prayer pilgrimages and 300,000 visitors every year!
