Corpus Christi means 'the body of Christ'. The Sacrament (bread that has been blessed in the Communion Service) is 'reserved' here, to be taken to people who are too ill to come to church. It is kept behind the red curtain in a cupboard called the 'Aumbrey'. A lamp is lit to show that the bread is there. This Chapel is where most people come for private prayer. |
