Inside Long Sutton Friends' Meeting House |
In the Quaker Meeting, the seats are around the room so that the people can face each other. Two of the Elders will sit together at the end. They may minister or not - as can anyone who goes to a Friends' Meeting. |

At Long Sutton, the Friends meet for an hour on Sunday mornings. Sometimes there may be several people who speak; sometimes the whole meeting may be quiet. In the quietness, the Friends focus on their inner thoughts, try to be in touch with God, and worship with one another. At the end of the meeting, the Elders shake hands. At Long Sutton there are six Elders and their job is to make sure the meetings are run properly. The Clerk would look after the practical things - the day-to-day running of the meeting. Once a month there is a 'Preparation Meeting', which deals with the business of Long Sutton Friend's Meeting. |
