The Altar

This altar is on wheels. It is brought to the centre of the 'pulpitum' (screen) for communion, when it is 'dressed' with a fair linen cloth, the chalice and platen and the burse and veil which cover the eucharistic vessels until they are needed.

There are ten altars in the Cathedral. Through the year, each one is used at different times.
