The Pulpit

The Pulpit

The pulpit is very high, so that everyone can see. It also shows the importance of the sermon. At the top is a canopy. This acts as a sounding board and helped the people to hear in the days before microphones.

On the pulpit are carvings of Pope Gregory sending St. Augustine to bring the Christian message to England. Saint Augustine founded Canterbury Cathedral.
