The Font

The cover of the font is decorated with many carvings and symbols. These include Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, (the Gospel writers, who wrote down the life of Jesus), and a dove, a symbol of the Holy Spirit.

This font is no longer used for baptisms - today they take place in the Chapel of the Holy Innocents in the Crypt, which is smaller and more cozy for a family occasion like this.
