I Go To A Quaker Meeting |

| The Quaker Meeting House is not a special building, just a useful one. Meeting can take place anywhere - often in people's houses - but having a large building makes it useful for all kinds of things. It can be shared with other groups as well. It can be used for music, dancing, eating, parties. Usually the wedding party is held there. |

Quakers get a lot of fun and enjoyment out of life, but don't expect to find us gambling, drinking too much or trying drugs. Quakers have earned a name for being honest and telling the truth at all times. We express our love of God by loving one another. We have always tried to help people in trouble. Quakers have worked tirelessly to gain freedom for slaves, and visit people in prison. |

People who were mentally ill used to be treated cruelly but one of the first hospitals for them was started by a Quaker. Quakers also run homes for old people and the war-wounded. |

| Above all the Quakers say that if you follow the teaching of Jesus you must rule out war and violence. Quakers have refused to fight in wars and now try to bring people together to settle their differences without fighting. | |
