I Go to a Quaker Meeting

Quakers believe that God is everywhere, in every person, every place and thing so that we do not have a Priest or special ceremonies. We have several Elders to whom we may turn for advice if we wish. There is also a Clerk who keeps the records and is usually an Elder.

We all rely upon another person in all practical things that have to be done in any group. We each take special care of two other people if for instance they are ill or in trouble and they take care of us.

We do not have special ceremonies for christening new babies. They are brought to Meeting to be 'introduced' and we all feel responsible for helping them along in any way we can.
People can be married in the Meeting House. An extra Meeting is arranged and, after a time of silence the couple stand up and taking hands make their promise to stay together 'until our lives end'.
