More on the Quakers |
CommunionQuakers remember Jesus' final act of love for his disciples, the Last Supper, in the old-fashioned 'Grace' - a few moments of silent worship at the beginning of each meal at home or with other Friends. Teaching our faith to childrenIf we are fortunate enough to have children with us in our Meeting, they start off Meeting for Worship in Sunday School, learning Bible stories and stories from Quaker History. About a quarter of an hour before the end of Meeting they rejoin their parents to share the silence of Meeting for Worship. Religion is, however, more likely to be 'caught' than 'taught', so the example of parents is very important. Where in the world? The Religious Society of Friends is a small group with about 28,000 members and attenders in Britain, and much larger numbers in the Americas and Africa. |
