Marriage
Salvationists believe in marriage as a sound basis for family life. The Salvationist wedding ceremony is very similar to a wedding in any other Christian church, but there are some unique Salvation Army procedures. The Salvation Army flag is prominently displayed, indicating that the marriage includes making a promise to God. Some Salvationist couples choose to marry in Army uniform; some prefer a traditional white wedding while others opt for the groom wearing his Army uniform with the bride wearing a traditional wedding dress. As in other weddings, there can be bridesmaids and a best man. Sometimes a brass band provides music and a guard of honour. |
