Roles and Responsibilities in the Church of England |
|
| There are two ARCHBISHOPs - of Canterbury, and of York. They each look after a number of dioceses. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the senior archbishop. | |
| A diocese is the geographical area looked after by a BISHOP. In large dioceses there may be other 'helper' bishops - for example, in Lincoln Diocese, which is very large, there are Bishops of Grantham and Grimsby, who help the Bishop of Lincoln. Each diocese will also have people to look after its cathedral, to care for its schools, to look after the clergy, readers and other groups, to organize training and to keep everyone informed with what is going on. | |

| If you look at the Lincoln Diocese website, for example, you will get a good idea of some of the things that take place. | |
