I Go To An Anglican Church

service
There is a lot of variety in our services at church. On the first Sunday evening of each month we hold 'Sunday@Six', which is an evening service held in our school hall. This tends to be a less formal service. We sing along to music played by our band, and worship God in an informal setting. Lots of teenagers and young people also come to this service, and it is often led by young people.
At all of our services we have people called sidesmen, whose job it is to welcome people at the door. The sidesmen are different each week, and different for each service. To be a sidesman you have to be friendly and welcoming. As well as saying 'hello', the sidesmen give out the service books or sheets for the day, and tidy the church up after the service is over. For many people, their first impression of the people in a Church will either send them away for good, or encourage them to visit the church again. The sidesmen standing at the door are therefore very important!
