I Go to an Afro-Caribbean Pentecostal Church |

| The Service | |
Our service starts with praise and worship. This is a time of singing and giving thanks and praise to God for everything that he has done for us. The band lead us in praise and worship and we have the words of the songs on a screen at the front of the hall so that we can all join in. Some of the songs are fast and involve lots of clapping and dancing. Some songs are slow, and people often close their eyes and think about the words of the songs that they are singing. We also raise our hands as a way of saying that we are grateful to God and recognise that he is Almighty. After praise and worship the ushers collect the offering. This is money that we give to the church to help to pay for the building and the other expenses of the church. We then have a sermon or teaching from and about the Bible. Kofi or Jayne preach. Kofi is very funny and Jayne often lets us into the family secrets. We all enjoy the sermons as they teach us and remind us about what God has done for us and how much He loves and cares for us. |

After the sermon people are invited to become Christians and join the family of God, and those who are sick are prayed for. The body of Jesus was beaten many times before his crucifixion. By allowing this to happen, Jesus paid the price for our healing, so that we can get better when we are sick. |
