What Christians believe about ...
Right and Wrong

How do we know what are the right things to do and say, and what are the wrong things?

Most of the time, it is something inside us that tells us the difference - a sense of right and wrong. From a very early age we seem to be able to know when we are being naughty - and sometimes we go right ahead anyway! Other times, our conscience wins the battle, or maybe its the knowledge of the consequences of our actions!

Sometimes it seems easier to choose the wrong path.

Sometimes it is easy to choose the right way.

If you want to know the right way to wire a plug, the best thing to do to avoid electrocution is to read and follow the instructions.

The best way to avoid getting arrested and going to jail is to keep the laws of the country you live in.

Christians believe that the best way to know what is right and wrong in God's sight is to follow his instructions and keep his laws.
Bible

The Bible is the Christian's instruction manual for how to live God's way.

The Ten Commandments are God's laws to help Christians in their relationship with God, and their relationship with other people. They can be found in The Bible, Exodus chapter 20 verses 1 - 17
commandments

Jesus quoted the Ten Commandments when he was on earth. Jesus also said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind" and also to "Love your neighbour as yourself." (The Bible, Matthew chapter 22 verses 36 - 39) People sometimes call this "the golden rule".

Christians don't always find it easy to follow these instructions and keep these laws. In some situations it is not a simple matter to decide what is right and wrong. At these times many Christians use this phrase to help them make the right choice:
