Tearfund is involved in many ways in serving the poor. A major focus is on disaster relief, development and micro enterprise (craft/trade), but we also believe in the effectiveness of campaigning, prayer and educating our supporters. There is never a 'typical' year for Tearfund, but the next few pages outline some of the ways in which Tearfund worked out its commitment to the poor. |

War and drought in Afghanistan resulted in Tearfund launching an emergency appeal in July. The terrorist attacks on America bring the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan to the world's attention and the suffering and tension rises. Aid agencies are forced to withdraw as military action ensues, which puts a constraint on Tearfund's response. However, the relief work continues both in Afghanistan and in neighbouring Pakistan. |
