Although science suggests that humans are just part of the evolutionary process, Christians believe that animals and humans are different. In The Bible, Genesis chapter 1 verse 27, it is only humans that are made in the image of God. Humans are somehow special, according to the Bible. They and only they share some of the nature of God. Traditional Christian teaching declares that only humans have souls. Christians believe that only humans have been given special rights and privileges. They have been given power over the rest of the animals but with that power comes responsibilities. In Genesis chapter 1 verse 28, God commands humans to 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.' They must look after the animals on behalf of God. |
