The Origin of the World |

The popular idea of our world before modern science became common knowledge ran something like this. People believed that the earth was the centre of the universe and that the sun, moon and stars were just lights in the sky whose purpose was to light up the earth. People were taught to take the Bible's account of the creation of the world at face value, in quite literal terms. |
