Facing the Issue : Prejudice and Discrimination

Solomon's Story

I want to share about one incident which happened today while I was walking in Poole Park (Dorset), listening to a Christian tape on my walkman. A car with a young man and a young woman passed by me; as it came near me, the young man lowered his side window and shouted at me using very vulgar and abusive words. After hearing him, first I felt angry but then I looked at the young man and said, "Thank you! God bless you!"

There were few other folks walking their dogs in the Park who heard the young man and were very angry and got the number plate of the car and asked me to report him to police. But I told them that I am a follower of Jesus and I don't want to retaliate in return.

Then I came home and read this in my Bible reading notes for the day:

"God pursues us with his love. Where can I get a true love for others? 'For God himself has taught you to love one another.' The Bible, 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verse 9)"

What a better example could we have of how to love others, than the example of God himself? What a privilege it is to be child of a loving Heavenly Father!'
