Deciding What Is Right: ProtestantsProtestants believe that God has left us with the Bible to help us make decisions. They believe God speaks through the Bible, telling people about Himself and how He wants them to live. The Bible is often called "The Word of God". It is considered to be God's "revelation" - that is a technical word for God showing humans what He is like and how they should live. A Protestant attempting to make a moral decision would ask two questions: -
Bible study is therefore very important and Protestants study the Bible individually and in groups so that they know the Bible well enough to be able to work out what it means today. An important part of a Protestant Church service would be the sermon when the leader teaches the congregation from and about the Bible. |
