PUNISHMENT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

Christians believe they must always follow the example of Jesus and therefore they look in the New Testament to find out what Jesus said and did. In the New Testament, Christians find much to help them decide how we should treat criminals.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS A RIGHT TO PUNISH

In the book of Romans chapter 13 verse 1 in the New Testament of the Bible, it says "The authorities that exist have been established by God."

Christians believe that in some way the Government of a country has been put there by God. Christians believe that the Government has a God-given duty to punish criminals on behalf of the society they govern.
