Life and Death

Word Up

Sanctity of Life - life is holy and belongs to God.

Immortality - the soul does not die.

Abortion - removal of a foetus from a mothers womb.
Abortion is only allowed in the UK if two doctors agree such things as:
Mother's life is at risk
Child likely to be born serverly handicapped

  • Many Roman Catholic's and Evangelical Protestants believe life begins at conception and abortion is murder, which is against the sixth commandment.
  • The Church of England disagrees with abortion but allows it when there is no other option to stop suffering.

Bible bit: God ... "knit me together in my mother's womb." (The Bible, Psalm chapter 139 verse 13)

Euthanasia - a gentle way to end a person's life, who has a terminal illness. Nearly all Christians disagree with Euthanasia as it is seen as murder. The decision of when someone should die is seen as God's decision as all life is sacred.
