Christian Beliefs on Social Harmony

New Testament is totally against racism.

Jesus treated people equally and told the parable of the Good Samaritan, which shows races who hate each other, can be friends. (e.g. Jews and Samaritans)

Religious Harmony

All churches say people have free-choice to follow which religion they want. Some believe only Christians have the full truth but people can know God in other religions. Other Christians believe you can only get to God through Jesus and Christians try to convert others to Christianity.

Word Up

Prejudice - pre-judge, believe others are not as good as you without even knowing them

Discrimination - to put prejudice into action

Racism - to discriminate against people because of their race or colour

Sexism - to discriminate because of gender, being male or female

Multi-ethnic - different races and cultures living together

• Less chance of war as different races/nationalities will get to understand each other and intermarry
• Helps society see all races have lots in common
• More progress as new people bring new ideas
• More variety of good, music, fashion and entertainment

Multi-Faith - different religions living together

• Learn what religions have in common
• Seeing other religions in action may make people more serious about their beliefs
• Help people understand each other's beliefs
• Encourage freedom and may discourage conflicts
