Do Miracles Still Happen Today? |
Yes. Christians believe that God hasn't changed, and he will still sometimes respond to prayers for healing, and bring about a cure in an incurable condition. He can still do things to arouse wonder, and so back up the message of a Christian preacher. So we do not need to disbelieve every report of a miracle today, and many Christians have experienced miraculous events within their own circle of friends. But Jesus did warn that 'false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles' ( The Bible, Matthew chapter 24 verse 24 ), so unusual events are not always God at work. There are also people who can do apparent 'miracles' by trickery. For Christians, one side of the balance is to have an open mind, and not limit what God can do to what we feel comfortable with. The other is to believe only what has credible witnesses to back it, and fits what we know of God. We can more readily accept reports of things like healing the sick than tales of 'wonders' that bring no-one any real benefit. Find out how God miraculously met the needs of these people: |
