Make a Christmas Card

A hand-made Christmas card is very special, and not at all difficult to do. Start collecting things early in the year - interesting pieces of paper or card, ribbon, braid and gold decorations.

You will need:

a piece of card 17cm x 25cm
several pieces of coloured paper, recycled or interesting texture
metallic braid or cord, or coloured ribbon
ruler
glue
scissors
pinking shears
fold the card

Method:

1. Carefully fold the piece of card in half.

2. Trim a piece of coloured paper with pinking shears, so that it measures 13cm x 8cm. Glue it to the front of the card, leaving an equal margin on each side.

3. Cut a simple shape - a Christmas tree, a star, bells etc. - from an interesting paper of a toning or contrasting colour. Glue the shape to the front of the card.

4. Make a bow from metallic braid, gold cord or ribbon and stick it to the front of the card, or slip a piece of coloured cord or ribbon right round the spine of the card. Gently tie it in a bow, without crushing the spine.
